My Will

Signing your Will

If you are satisfied with the document then you will need to have two witnesses present when you sign it. The witnesses must be independent of you and persons other than anyone who may benefit under your Will or a partner or spouse of someone who may benefit under it.

It is essential when completing the Will that the procedure set out below is followed precisely. You should:

  1. Sign the document as the Testator/Testatrix (in the presence of both witnesses) where indicated.
  2. Ask each witness in turn also to sign the Will where indicated and then to print, in his/her own handwriting, his/her name and address underneath their respective signatures.
  3. FILL IN THE DATE, MONTH AND YEAR (where shown) immediately above your signature.
  4. Ask your witnesses to sign the accompanying sheet by way of verification of your identity and confirmation that the above requirements have been complied with.

It is only when this has been done that the formalities will be complete and in order.
